Division of Extramural Activities
The Division of Extramural Activities (DEA) provides leadership and advice in developing, implementing, and coordinating extramural programs and policies at NIDCR and NIH. The DEA Director serves as the Executive Secretary of the National Advisory Dental and Craniofacial Research Council, which functions to perform the secondary level of review of grant applications and advises, consults with, and makes recommendations to the NIDCR Director on the directions of research, research support, and training and career development supported by NIDCR. The DEA Director also serves as the Executive Secretary of the NIDCR Board of Scientific Counselors, which is responsible for scientific review of intramural research programs at NIDCR.
